The monument commemorates George Bennett d. 1841 , a founder of the Sheffield Sunday School movement, who, from 1821-29 travelled the world as a missionary with the Reverend Daniel Tyerman. He covered some 90,000 miles in the process. Sandstone ashlar with a marble relief panel of Bennett leaning on a globe on its stand. (Photo Nov 2013).
