West chapel in south part of
Overleigh Cemetery

Church of England cemetery chapel, now Orthodox church. Early
C20. Stone-dressed hard red brick with grey-green slate roof.
In the manner of John Douglas.
PLAN: rectangular in plan, including north aisle abutting
north-west tower containing porch; small south outshut under
lean-to roof.
EXTERIOR: 3-stage tower with broach spire; stepped buttresses;
open porch in tower with west archway and double boarded doors
in archways south and east to nave and aisle and cross-beamed
boarded ceiling; 5-light bluntly-pointed west window to nave
with panel tracery; crosses to porch-arch and nave-gable;
second stage of tower has an ogee light to west, north and
east; clock-stage has stone dial to north and 2-light window
flanked by stone panels, and with blank panel-tracery, to
west, south and east. The north aisle has two 3-light windows
with blank panel tracery in rectangular openings; an arched
2-light panel-traceried window under north window to east bay;
a pair of boarded bier-doors in archway to east. A
bluntly-pointed arch to 5-light panel-tracery east window;
gable cross. Boarded door in east face of south outshut; a
rectangular window of 3 basket-arched lights and one of 2
lights in south face; boarded door in arch, west. A
segmental-arched 3-light panel-tracery window to nave; blank
west bay opposite tower-porch.
