War memorial, undated, to those fallen in the Great War 1914-19.
White stone. Base of 2 octagonal steps; inscribed plinth;
cross with downward-pointing sword of justice in bronze, total
height approx 5m.
Inscription in Roman capitals: "THIS CROSS OF SACRIFICE IS ONE
IN DESIGN AND INTENTION WITH THOSE WHICH HAVE BEEN SET UP IN
FRANCE AND BELGIUM AND OTHER PLACES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
WHERE
OUR DEAD OF THE GREAT WAR ARE LAID TO REST: THEIR NAME LIVETH
FOR EVERMORE".
The war memorial stands at the junction of the drives from
Overleigh Road and the two mortuary chapels of the cemetery
(qv).
