GV II

House, now offices. 1789, restored late C20. By William
Hargrave. For John Plowes, merchant. Red brick, Flemish bond,
slate roof. 3 storeys, 5 bays. Central 2-leaf panelled doors
with overlight in probably restored doorcase with wide
architrave and pediment. Sashes with restored glazing bars,
stone sills, rubbed brick flat arches, continuous 1st-floor
sill band. Bracketed eaves cornice.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
William Hargrave, master carpenter, built more than 14 houses
on Park Place for gentleman merchants who were leaving the
congested town centre.
