-- II
Former farmhouse: medieval core with alterations of mid C16, early C17 and
early C19. A 2-cell mid C16 range to left, and a much-remodelled medieval
section to right. The right hand section of one storey with attics, the left
hand of two storeys with attics. Timber-framed and plastered with C20 panels.
(The right hand section has rebuilt front and end walls of C19 red brick).
Concrete plaintiled roofs: 4 flat-roofed casement dormers. An end chimney of
early C17 red brick to left with sawtooth shaft, and an internal C19 chimney
af red brick to right. Late C20 casements with leaded lights. C19 gabled
plaintiled entrance porch with arch-headed framed and boarded door. The two
left hand cells have good mid C16 framing: close-studding with blocked diamond
mullioned windows, and one 4-centred arched doorway. Large unchamfered 1st
floor joists. In early C17 the walls were raised to give 2 full storeys, and
a staircase tower added to rear with ovolo-mullioned windows. The right hand
cell has many components from an open hall, but may have been completely
rebuilt in C16, and was much altered later.
