Drainage windpump. Early C19, rebuilt 1907 by Thomas Smithdale and Sons.
Some restoration 1973 also by Thomas Smithdale and Sons. 3 storey brick tower
with unusual entatic batter. Doors to north-west and south-east. One blocked
window above each. Remains of timber petticoat survive. This windpump re-
uses early machinery including cast iron windshaft and timber clasp arm brake-
wheel. Early cap frame with winding beams and braces (to winch round cap
before introduction of fan stage machinery). C20 turbine.
