Farmhouse. Early C17 with later alterations. English bond brick, rendered to
front; timber-framed cross-wing to left (south) faced in mid C19 Flemish bond
brick; gabled clay pantile roof, with moulded brick kneelers to coped gables to
right and stair tower; C17 brick axial stack with moulded bases to 4 octagonal
shafts. 3-unit lobby-entry plan with parlour in cross-wing to left of stack,
and stair-turret to rear. 2 storeys and attic; 4-window range east front, gable
facing to left. Mid/late C19 casements with glazing bars. Mid C20 porch with
columns to door. Similar casements to rear. Late C20 conservatory to rear and
single-storey extension to right. Interior: room to left has blocked fireplace
and C17 ovolo-moulded beam with bar stops; central room (former hall) has
chamfered beam with hollow-step stops and blocked fireplace. The stair tower
has a C17 dog-leg staircase with turned balusters and moulded square newel with
finials and panelling: some balusters now at Waterfield Cottage (item 2/4
(g.g.); stair tower has original roof with chamfered principals and butt
purlins. Chamfered tie-beams and joists to first floor. 4-bay clasped-purlin
roof with windbraces, the intermediate collars with birdmouth joints to purlins;
roof in cross wing has chamfered cambered collars and chamfered principals.
