Former stable block converted into apartments 2000-2004. North and west ranges early C19, enlarged with conversion of yard into covered exercise yard 1875, dated with initials A.E.B. (Augustus Edward Burdon) on pediment. Front tooled-and-margined ashlar, returns squared stone; graduated Lakeland slate roof to north and west ranges, Welsh slates to remainder.

North elevation two storeys, 1 + 3 + 1 bays. Plinth, rusticated quoins. Slightly-projecting pedimented centre has tall round arch flanked by lower segmental arches with four-pane sash windows above; all arches now blocked, with later windows inserted. Circular moulded panel in pediment encloses shield with date and initials. End bays have four-pane sashes; hip-ended roof with stepped-and-corniced ridge stacks. Six bay returns show C20 casement windows in older openings.

Interior: former covered yard has balcony all round, stepped up over former entrance arch on north, with shaped cast-iron bars and moulded handrail. Strapped king-post truss roof with rooflights.
