16/28 Whittle Farmhouse
II
House, c.1800 with later C19 rear wing. Squared tooled stone with cut
dressings. Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays, symmetrical. Central
doorway behind C20 glazed porch. Ground-floor windows renewed in old
openings; two 4-pane sashes and 4-pane casement above. Coped left gable on
moulded kneeler,with stepped-and-banded end stack. Right return shows two
lst-floor windows, one with C20 casement and the other blocked; above a
moulded string at eaves level the wall is raised as an eyecatcher, with 2
blind Gothick 2-light transomed windows and a second moulded string below
the castellated parapet.
Adjacent outbuildings to north and west are not of special interest.
