Mill, C18 remodelled early C19. Lower parts squared stone, remainder brick in
English Garden Wall bond 1 and 5 with cut stone quoins, lintels and sills;
pantile roof. East elevation 2 storeys on basement, 5 bays. 3 steps up to
boarded door at right end; 12-pane Yorkshire sash windows. 2 small basement
windows and pair of keyed round arches to tail goit. To right is adjacent Mill
House (q.v.).
Interior; undershot waterwheel, partly rebuilt.
Historical Note. Originally a fulling mill, re-opened 1834 by the Ashton
brothers as a cloth mill, working until 1947.
