behind, linking the
Hermitage and stable
block

Wall and outbuildings, C18 with C19 alterations. Coursed roughly-squared stone
with dressings; Lakeland slate roof. South elevation (to drive) tall wall with
4 shallow buttresses and flat coping; to far right doorway in raised chamfered
surround; several small windows. Stepped and corniced stack on wall top to
right. North elevation: range of pent outbuildings in 4 parts; from left to
right laundry with 2-panel door (with graffito 'D DAVIS 1785 HERMITAGE') in
chamfered block surround, flanked by 12-pane sashes in raised moulded surrounds;
boot hall with boarded door in chamfered block surround flanked by old 6-pane
casements with tooled sills and lintels; cartshed with 2 chamfered segmental
arches and small window over, and privies with 2 similar smaller arches and
part-slatted loft window.
