Viaduct. 1770 designed by Smeaton and widened 1992. Red brick. 18 round arches
with buttresses between, plus brick parapets topped by ashlar coping, with scrolled
and ramped ends with round brick piers. Part of Smeaton's Causeway carried out as
improvements to the Great North Road by John Smeaton. (That part of the Viaduct.
which lies within the Borough of Newark-on-Trent was included in the 4th list on
19 May 1971).
