Stable block and attached wall. Late C18 with later alterations. Red
brick with stone dressings; low-pitched hipped graded slate roofs with wide
spreading eaves. One and 2 storeys with stone impost band. Centre 3-
bay block (former tack room flanked by coach houses) has one-storey stables
to left and right, projecting at right-angles to terminate in rectangular
corner pavilions, formerly with grooms' accommodation to first floor.
Main block has 3 lunette windows (outer blind) below eaves and wide segmental
carriage arches with boarded doors to left and right of central round-headed
doorway. Identical round-headed doorways to flanking stables, one to main
range and 2 to returns. Corner pavilions have round-headed windows on
each floor to front(blind to bottom half to left wing and to ground floor
only to right pavilion). Wide segmental arches with boarded doors to inner
returns and blind lunette windows above. Red brick stack to rear of left
pavilion. Wall: attached to south linking stable block with service range
of Woodhouse (q.v.). Red brick with stone coping and 8-bay arcade of blind
round-headed arches. Slopes gently upwards to each end.
