Garden wall, kitchen garden wall and associated outbuilding. Late C18
with minor later repairs; outbuilding incorporating parts of a C17 building.
Wall. Attached to projecting left wing of west front of Woodhouse (q.v.).
Red brick with stone coping, stepped down 5 times to west end. Kitchen
garden wall: also red brick (random bond) with stone coping. Encloses
rectangular area of approximately 110 x 70m, angled on east side. Outbuilding:
incorporated to north-east corner of kitchen garden wall. Red brick (narrow
C17 bricks to lower parts on all sides except front gable); graded slate
roof with coped verges on carved stone kneelers and diminutive integral
end stack to rear gable. 2 storeys with stepped eaves cornice. C19 casement
in C18 segmental-headed opening on first floor to front gable; 6-panel door
directly below, approached by flight of 3 steps,has remains of flat bracketed
hood. Interior. Cellar with cobbled floor.
