GV II

House, latterly inn, now shop. Mid-C18 re-fronting of an earlier house,
later additions and alterations. Brick, rendered to front, plain tile roof
and external end stacks. Original house encased in brick in mid-C18 when
eaves were raised to front and back. 2 storeys with continuous floor band,
3 bays; C20 casements to first floor below early C19 labels with early C19
bow windows to ground floor flanking central entrance, C20 door and rendered
brick porch. Interior: chamfered cross beams to 2 front rooms on ground
floor; roof structure (late C16 or early C17) of original house visible
in attic; butt purlins with cambered collar and tie beams in 5 narrow bays;
one of the struts from tie beam to collar is a re-used beam with 4 crudely
carved quatrefoils (probably late C15 or early C16).
