MARKET DRAYTON C.P.
SHROPSHIRE STREET (southeast side)
No. 9
GV
II
House, now shop. Late C16 or early C17, remodelled in the early C19. Rendered timber frame lined as ashlar. Plain tile roof. Framing: small square panels. One framed bay. Two storeys and attic.
Jettied first floor with rendered bracket to left (the moulded bressumer probably still survives behind the shop fascia). Large central rendered timber framed eaves dormer with three-light wooden-framed metal casement. Integral brick end stack to right (rebuilt above roof in c.1900). First-floor early C19 paired glazing bar sash. Early C19 shop window consisting of small-paned (7 x 4 panes) square bay with C20 tiling beneath and three steps up to half-glazed door to left.
Interior: each floor with pairs of chamfered beams and plain joists. Chamfered left-hand rear corner posts. Exposed square-panel framing. It is possible that No. 9 formerly formed a continuous jettied range including No. 13 (q.v.). The intervening building has since been rebuilt.
