Varley House
GV II
Pair of houses, now single dwelling. Early C18, remodelled
late C18. Painted brick with slate roof and brick stacks, the
left end one external, one on ridge to right of centre.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic; 3-window front on moulded
plinth. On the ground floor, three windows alternate with two
doors. Left door is 6-panelled, the doorcase with Gothic
panelling and panelled reveals. Right door also 6-panelled,
the upper 2 panels glazed. Both doors with hoods on consoles.
Centre window is a tripartite sash with glazing bars, arranged
1/2, 3/6, 1/2: outer windows are 3/6 unhorned sashes. Platband
at first floor. On first floor, three 6/6 unhorned sashes
under hoodmoulds on label stops. Dentilled eaves cornice.
