Farmhouse. Early C16. Timber framed, rendered and colourwashed,
slate roof. Two storeys, main block with cross passage and end
parlour to right, short cross wing to left, extended to rear by 3
bays, and a further angled wing, probably C17 beyond cross wing
containing kitchen and service rooms. Entrance within 2 storey
porch, the upper floor jettied on 2 sides, open at ground floor
level, with a Tudor arch and blind spandrels. C19 panelled door
within and side seats. Ground floor has C19 three-light windows
and first floor, also jettied, has c19 boxed oriel windows on C16
bracketed and moulded sills. C16-C17 moulded barge boards,
returned on brackets. Right gable end has two superimposed
fireplaces with moulded stone surrounds, surviving from demolished
further bay to right. Rear wing timber framed, 4 panels high with
ogee corner braces, and altered on east side. Kitchen wing also
timber framed, now rendered, and brick on rear elevation, with
lean-to.
Interior: Main parlour has fine mid C16 stone fireplace with Tudor
arch and blind spandrels, and a similar but smaller fireplace to
upper floor chamber in same stack. Early C19 dog-leg stair. Rear
wing has deep chamfered cross beams with ogee stops. Some
linenfold panelling reset over fireplaces An early ceiling painted
in pink and gold is said to survive over the main stair, not now
accessible.
