House, now part of Atherstone Upper School, and attached railings. Late
C18/early C19. Pebbledash with rendered dressings. Old plain-tile double-span
roof; no chimneys. Double-depth central staircase plan. 3 storeys; 3-window
range; one-storey one-window range to left. Symmetrical front has rusticated
alternating quoins and moulded cornice. 6-panelled door and fanlight has
panelled reveals; Tuscan doorcase of half-columns has fluted entablature with
corner roundels. Ground floor has mid C19 twenty-pane sashes throughout, in
rendered surrounds of chamfered pilasters with ornamented bases and entablature.
Above, sashes, 6-pane to second floor, have moulded surrounds. One-bay range has
colourwashed render. Moulded cornice and parapet with raised balustraded central
section. Mid C19 cast iron railings have classical ornament with scrolls, etc.
Former garden front to rear has similar detailing. Half-glazed door has doorcase
with pilasters. Sashes, of 15 panes to ground floor and 9 panes to second floor.
Central round-arched sash has surround with half-columns. One-stormy range has
plain-tile roof. Interior not inspected.
