6/34 Stable block, at Colliers Oak

Stable block. 1611 and mid C16. 3 courses of squared sandstone, inscribed 1611,
on a plinth with moulded edge. Upper walls of red brick, C18. Plain-tiled roof
with gable end ball finials of stone. 2 storeys, having pitch opening at first
floor and ground floor openings under segmental arches including a stable
doorway with split door and fixed iron casements. South gable end has corbelled
brickwork and band at eaves height. interior has partitions for 2 stalls. The
roof is of upper cruck construction with the blades linked by a yoke. The blades
are carried on the main ceiling beams. The initials TSMS are also inscribed on
the sandstone. They appear in the roof of Colliers Oak Farmhouse (q.v.).
