Group of four chest tombs and one head with footstone. C18.
Limestone. From north:
a) Double chest tomb. Hipped table, entablature and recessed
corner balusters. Fielded panels to sides and oval end panels,
to Joseph Hayward, died 1813, and wife, died 1800, children
Eleanor, 1814 and Elizabeth, 1823. Joseph Hayward Robbins
added 1822 and William Robbins, 1863.
b) Headstone, shaped top and scrolls around circular inscription
to Benjamin Hayward, died 1758. Footstone also with date.
c) Chest tomb. Table with rounded edge. Entablature on fluted
corner pilasters. Inscriptions on shields to Benjamin Hayward
died 1731, wife Elizabeth, died 1803, Joseph, died 1767 and his
wife Ann, died 1779.
d) Chest tomb with table and elaborately moulded entablature.
Recessed corner scrolls and panelled sides, to Joseph Hayward,
died 1788, and William Pierce, Collector of Excise, died 1789.
e) Chest tomb. Ogee moulded table. Panelled pilasters and fluted
frieze. Inscriptions on panel divided by draped urn, to Joseph
Hayward, died 1829, and Benjamin Hayward, died 1830.
