House, attached to No3(q.v.). Late C18 or early C19. Rendered stone, but exposed in
gable to upper level street, roof to front is asbestos cement slate to lower slope and
double roman tile to upper slope, elsewhere slate, but an area of corrugated clear
plastic to back wing. A small frontage house stepped back from No.3 and with a deep
back wing, and a lean-to to the right of the main body with double roman tile roof.
Two storeys and attic, one window front; at ground floor a tall C20 casement, and in
lean to a C20 three light casement with glazing bars; at first floor pair of C20 glazing
bar casements with broad flush mullions; to roof 2-light glazing bar casement to dormer
with flat segmental head. In projecting porch, left a C20 door. Return, right, has
3-light steel casement in lean-to, then, up steps to first floor level a 2-storey wing
with C20 flush door in inset section under a continuous wood beam, above which a 2-light
wood casement. Gable to right of this built against higher road level, upper part only
is visible, part of stone and part squared rubble. This wing has long sweep-down to the
rear slope. Gables are coped mainly in stone but some concrete replacement; cut stone
stack to main mansard gable, small brick stack in swept-down slope to wing. May have
been originally a service wing to the grander property, No3, adjoining.
