Two semi-detached cottages. Probably early C16, altered C17 and
C19. Painted rubble stone with brick dressings, hipped tiled roof
with brick stacks. L-plan; No 35 is 2-bay former open cruck
cottage, No 36 is C17 addition to south. Two-storey, 2-window
north front at right angles to road. C19 4-panelled door with
single C20 casement to right, 2-light casement to left in section
of wall only one skin thick, probably formerly timber-framed.
First floor has one 2-light. Right return has two single light
casements to ground floor and two 2-light casements to first floor
of No 35, No 36 has C20 door with gabled canopy, 2-light casement
to right and two 2-light casements to first floor. Left return of
No 35 has C20 conservatory, rear with 2-storey lean-to projection,
possible formerly for stairs.
Interior of No 35 has exposed full cruck with cambered collar and
yoke, closed by original wattle and daub panels, limited smoke-
blackening. C17 open fireplace with chamfered lintel with rounded
corners on brick jambs and chamfered beam with stepped stops in
former hall. Parlour has deeper chamfered beam; first floor of
this bay probably inserted earlier than in hall. No 36 has open
fireplace similar to one in No. 35, probably added as the kitchen
wing in C17.
