Spa pump room, now pair of attached houses. Early C19. Ashlar,
Welsh slate hipped roof with ashlar stacks. 2-storey, 5-window;
one windowed flanking wings project forwards. Entrance doors are
to left and right returns; No 407 has 5-sided glass and timber
porch with Art Nouveau stained glass, No 408 has door with
pilasters and pediment inside a late c19 conservatory. Front has
central recessed 3-window block; ground floor verandah with 3
segmental arches and French windows either side of blind window.
Balustraded parapet to first floor balcony; three French windows
with marginlights. Side wings have one French window to ground
floor with key pattern in panel above. One 6-pane sash to first
floor. Deep eaves on paired wooden brackets. Returns have three
6-pane sashes to first floor, and right return has blind windows
either side of door, left return has square bay window to right of
door and lean-to extension to left.
Interior of No 408 has been altered and contains no original door
cases or fireplaces. Interior of No 407 said to contain fireplaces
with reeded surrounds with paterae; not inspected. Central ground
floor was one large reception room, this house being the pump room
of The Spa c1815. Converted into two dwellings c1901.
