Country house, now residential home for the elderly. Late C18,
extended C20. Limestone ashlar, flat roof, ashlar stacks. Three-
storey 7-window north east front. Two left hand bays project
slightly with two 12-pane sashes to ground and first floors, three
French windows and one sash to right part. First floor has total
of seven sashes, all in moulded architraves with cornices. Second
floor has pivot-hung window to left hand, four 6-pane sashes to
right, eaves band and moulded cornice to parapet. Rear has French
windows and one 8-pane sash to centre with tripartite sash to
sides, 12-pane sash and pairs of sashes to first floor, moulded
string courses to each floor, second floor has six 6-pane sashes,
moulded cornice to parapet. Right return has half-glazed door and
3-light casement to basement, three ground floor sashes, four first
floor sashes and 6-pane second floor sashes. Main entrance
formerly on left return, obscured by 1983 wing, not of special
interest.
Interior retains some original joinery; 6-panelled doors in
moulded architraves, window shutters, cupboards with glazed doors,
good coloured marble fireplaces in ground floor reception rooms,
reset C18 stairs with three turned balusters per tread, ramped and
moulded handrail, rising up to second floor. House used as a
residential home since 1947, founded by Rev Percy Warrington.
