13/144 The Old Rectory
II
Former rectory, C17 origins, early C18 east front, altered 1897,
rubble stone with ashlar east front and C19 slate roofs. Ashlar
end stacks. Two storeys and attic. Formal 5-window east front
said to date from c1712-16 has windows linked vertically by raised
panels, rusticated angle piers and horizontal mouldings-plinth,
string course and eaves cornice broken forward over window bays and
angle piers. Windows are C19 sashes in raised moulded surrounds.
Centre 6-panel door with traceried overlight, apparently early C19
set in shallow raised surround with early C19 reeded-strip and
roundel decoration and shallow pediment over. Parallel rear range
with early C19 large arched doorway in north end, first floor
window with C19 hoodmould above and gable plaque 'Nisi Dominus
1897'. Rear has scattered sash windows and 18-pane stairlight.
South range has two ridge stacks, two first floor ovolo-moulded 3-
light C17 mullion windows to rear and projecting range of single
storey outbuildings to north west. South front is roughcast with
scattered C19 sashes.
