9/13 Springfield House

House, early C19. Stucco on brick, hipped slate roof. 3-bays,
symmetrical plan with central stair hall. Recent addition to
right. Facade 2-storey with plat band. Central doorcase with
pilasters and open pediment, 6-panelled door with semi-circular
fanlight with curved glazing bars. Sash windows and stone sills.
Wide paired modillion cornice, Symmetrical chimney stacks from
fireplaces on internal walls. Side elevation 2 bays, sash windows.
Fenestration altered to rear. Building on site of earlier house
called Caulsess. Interior: panelled reveals to windows. Good
stair with turned balusters and wreathed handrail. Drawn plaster
cornices.
