Farmhouse, now house, dated 1625 and 1668 RS in kitchen and on
stack. Clunch, limestone, and brick alterations. C20 cedar
shingle roof replacing thatch. 4-bays parallel to street, with
right hand rear service wing. Entrance to main hall with twin
service rooms to right, parlour to left and inner room beyond.
Elevation: bays left of entrance framing replaced by brick, C19
casement windows with segmental brick heads, and wall raised to
encompass first floor window. Entrance 4-panelled door and Tuscan
portico, all early-mid C19. Stone build to right of door has C19
casement windows and raised dormer.
Interior: moulded stone jambs to parlour fireplace with inferior
timber lintel probably replacing stone head. Left end room with
Great Exhibition circular iron fireplace in marble surround. Spine
beams deeply chamfered with swept ends, but bar stops in former
cheese room in service end of hall. Upper floor partly in roof,
good moulded stone fireplace over hall. C17 stud and panel
partition. C17 roof. House alleged to be remodelled by Roger
Spackman, relative of Thomas whose monuments is in Clyffe Pypard
Church (q.v).
