A timber-framed building possibly of late C14 date. Four bay hall-house with
terminal jetty. The timber-framing has plaster infilling, the ground floor
rebuilt in red brick. Hipped tiled roof with large C17 brick chimneystack.
Three casement windows. Late C16 to early C17 additions. The interior contains
the dais beam with lap board panelling which formerly separated the Parlour
from the Hall and a roof with collars, collar purlin and crown post. Inglenook
fireplaces. The house was occupied by the Diamond Family, a notorious family
of smugglers, from the late C17 to 1748, and several alcoves reputed to be
smugglers hides have been found in the house.
