Lodge to Thurland Castle (q.v.), probably l880s by Paley and Austin. 2
storeys. West facade has gabled wing of one bay at the left, with a wide
window with plain reveals on the ground floor. Above is a 2-light
mullioned window. To the right the roof is continued downwards to a
single-storey front wall with parapet. This has 2 wide openings with stone
lintels and a central stone pillar, forming an open loggia. To the right
there is a window with a single tall round-headed light. Towards the left
a dormer with timber gable is recessed into the roof. The south wall,
facing the drive, is gabled and has a single-storey bay window of
triangular plan. Both of its sides have a cross window with round heads to
the lights. Above is a mullioned window with 2 round-headed lights. Set
back to the left is a Tudor-arched chamfered doorway leading into the
loggia.
