Savings Bank, now house. Dated 1849 at 1st floor, altered. Coursed squared
sandstone with quoins, low-pitched slate roof with central chimney.
Double-depth, 3 bays. Two storeys, symmetrical, in Gothic style; central
doorway altered as a window, with moulded Tudor-arched head, and on each floor
two windows of 2 pointed arched lights, all these openings with the heads cut
in one block, and with square hoodmoulds; in the centre a recessed plaque
imitating on a smaller scale the door below and inscribed
SAVINGS
BANK
1849
(Modern single-storey addition at right hand side in matching style and
materials not included in the item). Item forms group with Eccleston Old
School (q.v.) immediately south.
