GV II
Gate lodge, probably 1890s. Ashlar, low hipped slate roof with one
chimney on the ridge to the rear. Roughly square plan, one storey in
free classical style: low plinth, rusticated pilasters, cornice and
parapet with some urn finials remaining. Front to drive has on the
left a large semi-circular tripartite bow window with curved sashes and
carved frieze, and a large porch with round-headed doorway built in the
angle with the set-back rear bay; left return wall (facing Newchurch
Road) has a canted bay window flanked by round-headed panels with fluted
keystones; this wall continues beyond the pilaster, contains one modern
window, and may be an extension.
