Windmill tower, now shop. Circa 1800. Sandstone rubble, with battered
walls and embattled parapet. 5 storeys. Windows are mostly casements,
with plain reveals. On the south-east side there are windows to the 4
upper floors. The west and south-west sides are similar, but with a row
of 6 windows on the ground floor. On the north side, facing the canal,
there are windows to the 3 lower floors. On the south side there are 2
windows on the 1st floor and one on the 2nd. Below them is a doorway. The
mill, unlike others in the area, is not marked on William Yates' map of
Lancashire, published in 1786.
