Gate and Flanking Walls, Caythorpe Court
G.V.
II
Gates and flanking walls, circa 1900. By Sir R Blomfield. Coursed limestone
rubble, ashlar and wrought iron. The gateway consists of two partially
rusticated square piers surmounted by moulded cornices and large stone
balls. The gates themselves are of two leaves with decorative flourishes
in a late C17 style. To either side of the entrance are high stone walls
with plain copings which terminate at rusticated pillars. This is the
principal entrance to Caythorpe Court.
