Barn. C18, altered. Timber-frame on brownish-brick plinth, with tarred
weather-board cladding; plain tile roof. 4-bays. Opposing cart entries with
double board doors to 2nd bay from west. Late C20 smoked glass panels to each
side and to east gable end. Right bay on north side has board stable door. Bird
holes in west gable. Interior: many timbers are C20 replacements. Frame has sole
plate; unjowelled wall posts with straight braces to tie-beams, wall plate and
mid-rail; close-set studs, queen-strut roof trusses with high collars and yokes to
plank ridge; intermediate collars; staggered butt purlins; old rafters. Western
bay has loft. Adjoining the barn on its west side is the site of an animal pound,
reputed to date back to c.1560. Included for group value only.
