Terraced town houses, c1780-90 Portland Estate development, probably by John
White. Stock brick, all except No 12 with channelled stucco ground floors and
No 13 with later stun facing and quoins to upper floors; slate roofs. 4
storeys and basements, Nos 9, 11 and 13 with dormered mansards. 3-window wide
astylar fronts. Broad doorways to right, all except for No 9 semicircular
arched and Nos 8, 10 and 13 with Coade rustications and head keystones; No 9
has pilastered doorway with entablature and panelled door in paired pilaster
strip jambs with flat consoles to cornice-doorhead and loop patterned fanlight;
Nos 8 and 10 have panelled doors in fluted antae jambs, cornice-doorheads and
patterned fanlights; Nos 11 to 13 have panelled doors, side lights and panelled
dividers, cornice-doorheads and radial glazed fanlights. Recessed sashes, under
flat gauged arches to upper floors,except No 13 with stucco architraves. Plat
band over ground floor. Parapets with copings and cornice to no 13. Apart from
Nos 10 and 12 there are cast iron early C19 or Victorian scrolled balconies and
balconettes to 1st floors. Nos 8 and 9 retain wrought iron area railings with
urn finials and No 9 has urn pattern lampstandards with scrollwork brackets to
lampholders and link extinguishers; cast iron plumbed spike finialed railings
to rest. Interiors not inspected.
