Town mansion. c1692 with attic heightening in 1950s and interior alterations.
Brown brick, stone dressings and red brick window dressings, slate roof. 3
storeys, basement and dormered mansard. 7 windows wide with 3 central bays
advanced and stone quoined, plus a half-window bay to left. Central Ionic
columned entrance porch, probably added c1720, with balustrade above to
enriched central 1st floor window. Flush framed glazing bar sashes under flat
red brick gauged arches, those in centre bay with stone architraves. Stone plat
bands between storeys and stone block bracketed cornice with balustraded
parapet. Interior altered but retains some of cornices, panelling etc,and in
particular a fine open well, cut string staircase of c1720 with carved bracket
tread ends and 3 slender twisted balusters per tread, ramped handrail swept to
curtail, columnar newels. This is only remaining part of the original group of
houses in Craig's Court, laid out c1695.
