1594 Bishop's Gate

SU 1429 SE 6/60 28.2.52.

2.
C14-15. 2 storey. An unsymmetrical group of rubble and tile walling with
ashlar dressings and old tile roof. The gateway consists of a 4-centred arched
opening with a gabled room over. Small single pointed light in centre of
gable. Short 1-storey wing to left hand and longer wing of 1 storey and attic,
with 2 gabled dormers to right hand each with one 3-light leaded casement.
Very picturesque, but of plainer character than other gates. The east Exeter
Street front is similar with 2 light traceried pointed window in gable.

All the listed buildings in the Close form an outstanding group.
