House, now shops and flats. Wrongly dated 1525 in C20 numerals above passage door; formerly said to be dated 1625 on a plaster panel (VCH). Timber framed: small framing; gables have some ornamental panelling. Lath and plaster infill. Ground floor plastered brick. Tile roof; brick internal stacks. U-plan. 2 storeys and attic with twin gables; 2-window range. Ground floor built under, with two C20 doors and shop fronts. C20 door to central passage. C20 casements. Gables have moulded scrolled barge boards of 2 different designs. Rear: 2 timber framed gabled wings with jowled posts. Shorter wing on right has late C20 boarding on gable. Between wing and front range there is a massive lias and brick stack with 3 truncated square brick shafts with V-shaped pilaster strips. C19 and C20 additions. Interior: Shop on right has open fireplace. Bressumer and ceiling beams stepped stop-chamfered. Good carved acanthus scroll bracket. Exposed framing. Old 6-panelled door on first floor.
