Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17 with later service range to north. Timber
framed, largely cased in C19 colourwashed brick; one gable end is
weatherboarded. Pantiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. To the south there is a
range of 3 C19 square-leaded casement windows under segmental arches and a C19
door giving access to the cross-passage. Various other casement windows, some
with older leaded glass. To the north is a lobby entrance: C19 gabled porch
with boarded door and 3-centre arched fanlight. Internal stack. Inside the
house the timber frame has been largely papered over, but the original layout
survives. In the parlour there are 4 intersecting ovolo-moulded floor beams
forming a square central panel, none of the beams spanning from wall to wall
(cf. a ceiling at Cockfield Hall, Yoxford). Newel stairs, the lower flight
rebuilt.
