A mainly C16-C17 timber-framed and plastered building but considerably
altered in the C18 and later. Roof tiled. There is a cross wing at
the north end. Two storeys and attics. Six window range of mainly double-hung
sashes with glazing bars. The ground storey has some modern bays and
a splayed bay with slate roof on the south end. An 8-panel door with
the upper panels glazed has a Doric doorcase with plain columns, dentilled
frieze and cornice. Two large modern gabled dormers on the front. There
is a modern addition on the west side. The house stands to the west
of the site of the original hall, the home of the de Vere family and
there is a large fish pond to the south of the remains of the old hall.
