Regency house. 1821. Stucco; with joint marks. Low-pitched hipped slate roof,
with wide plain eaves. Building with two symmetrical two-storeyed facades. The
south-west has bow-shaped projections at each side and a projected centre, of 3.1.3
windows. Sashes in reveals, the ground-floor lights reaching terrace level. Plain
doorway. The feature of the elevation is a verandah with large concave metal roof,
supported on cast-iron columns, on a raised paved terrace, the centre having
coupled supports linked by decorative ironwork. The south-east (entrance) front
has four upper windows and two lower, the continuing verandah ending in decorative
trellis work. The middle of the verandah is broken by a wide porch (of later date)
of the Greek Doric Order, with coupled fluted columns at the front and pilasters
at each side of a wide opening which has a slender framework, including four
slender reeded pilasters, enclosing side windows and coupled doors, each of three
panels. Above the porch is a plain wrought-iron balcony rail and the porch
itself stands forward of the stone-flagged terrace. The north-east elevation is
plain, with some blank openings: the north west side contains lower service wings,
part of the early C19 and the remainder of the mid C19.
