House, divided into four dwellings. Probably late C16 with mid-C20 alterations
and additions. Part limestone rubble, part timber-framed with brick infill and
some weatherboarding on rubble base; thatched roof with two brick ridge stacks.
Four framed bays aligned north/south with large chimney situated between first
and second bay from north end. Two storeys and attic. Framing: two northern
bays have three rows of panels from sill to wall-plate. One row of panels at
eaves level to east elevation of two southern bays. No roof trusses visible
externally. Main east elevation: irregular fenestration, windows are mainly
C20 casements. There are three 3-light windows and two 2-light windows (one
has a plank weathering) on the ground floor and two 3-light windows and three
2-light windows on the first floor. The central bays each have a partly-
glazed C20 door. The entrance to the northern bay is enclosed within a lean-
to C20 porch which has a 2-light window in its east elevation and a half-glazed
door in its south side. Attic light at south gable end. The entrance to the
south bay is in the south side, of a rear single-bay wing of rubble and thatch
with a large end stack. There are substantial two-storey C20 additions to the
west elevation of the central bays, a C20 single-storey and attic addition
adjoining the north gable end and also a C20 lean-to outshut at the west end
of the rear south wing. Interior not inspected but cross-frames noted to have
survived and also large fireplace in second bay from north end. The roof
structure is probably of interest.
