Farmhouse. Probably C17 extended in early C20. Timber-frame, brick infill
panels, tiled roofs, central stack and local type external stack to west
end. Flattened 'H' plan comprising 2 storey 3 bay traditional main hall
range and 2 bay cross-wings only slightly projecting and framing the
north front: irregular fenestration of large multi-paned C19 casements to
left cross-wing and main range, 3 part 12-pane metal C19 casement with
weathering to right cross-wing; first floor has 12-pane C20 metal casements
to left hand wing and to main range and 8-pane weathered casement to right
wing. Entrance through 6-panelled C18 door under flat canopy in main range
immediately to left of right hand cross-wing leads to cross passage. Framing
is regular and heavy, 4 panels high from cill to wall-plate; collars and tie-
beams of north-facing cross-wings have weatherings. Interior: broached
chamfered beams to left hand front room and very large fireplace in main
room to left of cross-passage; winder stair to rear of fireplace. The left
cross-wing was extended left and rearwards in early C20. Extended to right
is C18 stable range with an interesting elliptical arch through the ground
floor to cattle drinking pool.
