Wrongly shown on OS map as Perd Farmhouse.
Farmhouse. C15, altered late C16 and C17 and subsequently. Timber-frame with
wattle and daub and painted brick panels, plain tiled roof and brick stacks,
one off-centre, one at rear and one on the left wing. Irregular U-plan with
central hall, solar cross-wing at left and remodelled service end. 2 storeys.
Central hall, probably of 3 framed bays, with 2 leaded casement windows to the
left of a C19 lean-to on the ground floor (the ground in front of the house to
the right has been excavated and the lean-to here houses a basement); 4-light
mullion and transome window, 3-light casement and gabled dormer to first floor.
Solar, cross-wing at left with a C19 5-light bow window and a 3-light leaded
casement above; jowl posts and one curved brace on gable end; curved braces on
side elevation. Gabled wing at right of rendered brick was formerly a stable
and it obscures and partly replaces the service end of the house; door with
cambered head at left and shuttered window to right. Door now in rear of
cross-wing. Interior Hall has full cruck truss with collar beam; further
evidence of another cruck truss in the central first floor room. Chamfered
beams with scroll stops to ground floor centre room. The first floor of the
solar cross-wing is partly ceiled but retains curved wind-braces.
