Small house. C18. Coursed sandstone rubble with brick arches
to ground floor openings. Welsh slate roof with gabled end.
Gable end stacks with red brick shafts.
PLAN: Double depth plan with 2 principal front rooms heated from
gable end stacks; the kitchen on right with direct entry from
central front doorway, and smaller parlour on right with straight
stairs at rear rising from right-hand room. Unheated service in
integral outshut at back.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Almost symmetrical 2-window south front.
Circa C19 2-light casements with glazing bars, ground floor with
cambered brick arches, first floor smaller casements. Doorway
to right of centre with cambered brick arch and old plank door.
Similar doorway on left of west end but with C20 plank door.
East end has large external stone stack with set offs at top,
brick shaft and circular oven at base. Roof at rear carried down
as catslide over integral single storey outshut.
INTERIOR: Timber-framed internal partitions. Right-hand room
has chamfered cross-beam with hollow step stops, exposed slightly
chamfered joists and large stone fireplace with stop-chamfered
lintel, bake-oven, pot-hanger and spit-rack above. Left-hand
room has exposed joists but no main beam. Exposed in chambers
is central closed truss with morticed collar and large purlins
set on backs of principals.
