2/20 Barn about 40 yards
north of Glebe Farmhouse
GV II
Barn. Probably late C17 to early C18 with later alterations. Sandstone
rubble plinth and timber-frame, mainly weatherboarded and partly with brick
infill. Pantile roof. Rectangular plan, aligned roughly east/west, of
1 + 4 + 2 bays. Two levels. North elevation has one row of exposed brick-
nogged framing above the plinth. Ledged two-leaved wagon doors under cambered
head to left of centre. To the right of these doors is a raking-top dormer
beneath which are two small openings to tollet. To extreme left is a ledged
door to upper level. Interior has raking strut trusses and cambered tie-beams.
Westernmost bay contains cider press with a timber, rather than the usual
stone, base for the "cheese". The barn has the usual drainage gulleys. Included
for group value.
