Church. 1905-6 by Bodley. Snecked sandstone rubble with limestone dress-
ings and tile roof. Comprises a nave, west porch, east vestry and south
chapel. The porch covers the full width of the nave and is of a single
storey with parapet. To each side of the moulded pointed doorway are tre-
foiled single-light windows. Above, the west wall of the nave has three
niches with cusped ogee heads, and two buttresses. It is capped by a
stone bellcote. The north wall of the nave is of four bays separated by
buttresses. The windows have lights with trefoiled triangular heads and
are of four, three, two and two lights. The south wall of the nave has
two windows of two and three lights. The chapel south window is of four
lights, its east window of three. The east vestry is of a single storey
with parapet. Its north and south walls each have a window of two trefoiled
lights. The east doorway is moulded and pointed. At the south-east corner
is a chimney of square plan with gabled cap and ogee-headed opening. The
east wall of the nave is blind and has a central buttress. Interior: arcade
of four pointed arches divides nave along its axis. Arches spring from
octagonal piers with moulded capitals and are chamfered in two orders.
A moulded pointed arch opens into the south chapel. The sanctuary is
floored in marble laid in a chequerboard pattern. To the west of the
central pier of the arcade the nave is divided from the choir by a carved
oak screen with tracery decoration and with brattishing. The choir stalls
are of oak and are carved with blind tracery. The eastern window on the south
side of the nave contains glass with the figures of saints and is a memorial to
those killed in the Great War.
