Farmhouse. Probably C17, enlarged and remodelled in late C18. Timber-
frame and brick with concrete tiled roofs and brick stacks. Irregular
plan with main range aligned east/west, southward projecting wing at
west end and lower, former granary wing of two bays also projecting south
at east end. Cellar, two storeys and attics. South elevation has 2:2:1
windows, 2-light casements to gable fronts to each side and sashes to main
front which has central late C19 gabled brick porch and ledged contemporary
door, brick plat band between ground and-first floors of centre and left
parts, segmental-headed openings to right gable, front. Rear stack has
pilaster-strips as noted in RCHM. Granary part has exposed timber-framing
to east and north with tallet stairs to north. Interior has asymmetrical
pyramidal chamfer-stops to ground floor ceiling beams; in main range,
a 4-flight dog-leg early C18 staircase with turned balusters (RCHM Vol I,
p 238).
