5/66 Bridge over River Lugg
at SO 559389
- II
Road bridge, now foot bridge. Possibly C17, altered and raised c1737,
minor late C19 alterations. Sandstone ashlar piers and cutwaters, brick
later rebuilding. Three spans across River Lugg, central higher slightly
pointed arch flanked by lower semi-circular-headed arch. The bridge is
an interesting survival of a former roadway which led from Hampton Bishop
village to the former manor of Old Longworth, Lugwardine CP (demolished).
